Take the warm spiced flavors of gingerbread and combine it with a super fudgy brownie and you’ll get these Gingerbread Brownies!

These are the chocolate dessert you need every Holiday season. The best of both worlds combine when you can have a gingerbread spiced dessert that’s also chocolate!

And, these are one of the easiest brownie recipes too! The secret trick here is that this is a doctored box brownies recipe. But trust me, these will be the Christmas brownie recipe you make year after year.

If you’re familiar with the blog, you know I prefer cooking to baking. So when I do create a baking recipe you know it’s got to to easy.

And I mean it…EASY. That’s why I decided to make this brownie recipe based on sprucing up my favorite boxed brownies.

This is the gingerbread brownie you can whip up and get in the oven in less than 10 minutes!

The flavor combination will have you coming back for more. Rich dark chocolate, warm cinnamon, and seasonal spices ginger and nutmeg. Together they make one of the most delicious brownies you’ll ever have!

Ingredients

Here’s what you need to whip these up! When it comes to the box of brownies it’s really important that the oil to water to egg ratios match below. Having the higher oil than water helps these stay SO fudgey!

  • 1 box of dark chocolate brownies and the eggs, water, oil (you’ll want the ratio of 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup oil, and 2 eggs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon molasses

Now isn’t that the perfect gingerbread spice combination? The molasses aren’t there for the flavor, they’re my secret trick for making sure these stay super moist and fudgy.

Just check out my recipe for these Doctored Boxed Brownies. With 3 tablespoons of molasses they are the fudgiest brownie you’ll ever have!

  • Author: aseasonedgreeting
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 35 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 9 brownies
  • Category: Dessert
  • Method: Baking
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

1 box dark chocolate brownies and the eggs/water/oil as called for on the box (you want to use the kind that use 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup oil, 2 eggs) I used these Betty Crocker
1 tablespoon molasses
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×9 baking pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl combine the brownie mix, oil, water, and eggs. Stir in the molasses, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.

2. Pour the brownie batter into the baking pan then bake for 35 minutes.

Serve with ice cream, like coffee or vanilla and enjoy!

Notes

Since these are moist and fudgy brownies, if you test the brownies with a knife or toothpick it will not come out clean.

Warm brownies are easiest to cut with a plastic knife!
