Next time you have super ripe bananas don’t make another banana bread, whip up this super simple and healthy banana peanut butter smoothie.

INGREDIENTS AND SUPPLIES
Here’s what you need to make this smoothie this week.
- Ripe bananas. This really is key to the best tasting smoothie. If they aren’t ripe enough you won’t get that powerful banana flavor coming through. If you want to make this and your bananas aren’t quite there, I’ve got a secret ingredient for you below that can save the smoothie.
- Almond milk. Use almond milk to not add too many extra calories. If you prefer oat milk, coconut milk, or dairy milk, you can use that.
- Fresh spinach.
- Cinnamon.
- Peanut butter.
- Ice cubes. Love an ingredient that’s free haha! You’ll need about 6 ice cubes, this helps make the smoothie super cold and refreshing.
- Optional secret ingredient: Banana extract. If your bananas aren’t ripe yet, add a few dashes of banana extract to really bring the banana flavor forward.

KITCHEN SUPPLIES
- Measuring spoons.
- Blending device. I use my Magic Bullet, but you could use a blender.

SUBSTITUIONS AND VARIATIONS
Here are a few twists you can add to the smoothie.
Swap the milks. I like mine with almond milk but you could also try coconut milk, oat milk, cashew milk, or dairy milk.
Add more protein or collagen. Add in your collagen powder or protein powder to really kick up the nutrients.
Use a frozen banana. If you’ve got a frozen banana in the freezer you can use that instead of the ice cubes.
This smoothie is best enjoyed as soon as you make it. In my opinion, when I’ve saved this and drank some the next day the “leafiness” flavor of the spinach was much more pronounced and not as tasty as the first day.
